TAIPEI -- If you thought Sony's selfie-focused Xperia C3 with its 5-megapixel front shooter, flash and 25mm wide-angle lens was the bomb, Asus's aptly named ZenFone Selfie is about to make you a very happy camper. The phone follows the Taiwanese computer giant's earlier announcement of the Asus ZenFone Zoom at CES in January of this year, which also used an impressive camera as a key selling point.
The Selfie features a front-facing 13-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash, and comes with a "Beautification" feature that lets you soften facial features, slim your cheeks down and enhance the color of your skin (all in real time, no less).
The ZenFone Selfie is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor and runs Google's Android with a custom skin called the Asus ZenFone UI. Like the ZenFone 2, it has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a full-HD resolution -- that's 1,920x1,080-pixels -- and a screen density of 403ppi. Protecting this screen is Corning's Gorilla Glass 4.
No pricing or availability information was revealed during the Asus press conference, but we'll update as information comes to hand.
